RTS-300 Inspection
System
Features and Specifications |
|
|
|
Construction
|
|
|
- Electronics instrumentation is a proprietary, modular design using multi-layer, EURO-style plug-in cards.
- Electronics sub-racks are mounted in a rugged Nema-12 shock resistant cabinet on a swingframe chassis for ease of maintenance.
- Electronics cabinet is air-conditioned for maximum reliability and stability of the electronic components.
- Remote pulser/receiver cabinets can be located up to 50 meters (150 feet) from the data processing electronics for maximizing signal-to-noise ratios.

Ultrasonics
|
|
|
- Multiple patented variations of wheel probes are available; custom probes are designed to fit the application.
- Transducers are either single element or multi-element linear arrays with standard frequencies of 2.25 MHz and 5 MHz.
- Probe wheels are designed for minimal internal reflected ultrasonic noise for sensitive flaw detection capabilities and simultaneous transducer excitations.
- Probe fluid is designed with a temperature coefficient suitable for operation from 0ºC to +90ºC.
- Probe "tire" is made of a durable polyurethane material.
- Coupling requirements are minimal; small quantities of low-quality industrial water is sufficient.

Test Resolution
|
|
|
- Fixed pulse densities along the surface from 0.5mm (0.020"), regardless of the surface speed, provide for reliable, repeatable test results.
- Maximum pulse rate per transducer of up to 3.5KHz at surface speeds up to 180 meters per minute (600 feet per minute).
- Capable of testing to meet or exceed all major test standards, including all API standards for tubular goods and AREA specifications for rails, as well as all other international standards.
- Inspection sensitivity capable of resolving a 1mm (0.040 in.) flat bottom hole.

Instrumentation
|
|
|
- Patented computer-controlled,
independent ultrasonic channels with parallel processing of collected
data.
- Patented two-dimensional
decision making process used for minimizing false indications.
- Patented dual-sensitivity
capability for simultaneously testing to two sensitivity levels in one
test cycle, using a single transducer.
- Flexible - expandable from 1
to 104 transducers per system.
- User friendly - completely
computer controlled with no front-panel switches, switches, knobs,
dials, etc.; all system setup parameters are stored in a disk file for
rapid recall and fast system setup.
- Programmable Distance
Amplitude Correction (DAC) curve with 0.5 to 2.0 microsecond resolution
for each channel.
- Automatic Gain Control (AGC)
with digital control. In excess of 120dB total system gain; 60dB
operator adjustable gain in 0.25 dB increments.
- Automatic or on-demand
self-test modes including an injected RF signal at the transmitter for
complete system verification.
- Pulse-echo time-of-flight
measurements are selectable from 0.01 to 1.0 micro-second units using a
crystal oscillator for accuracy
- Up to 16 echoes can be
captured and processed for each channel for each test cycle; independent
digital gating and threshold signal detection.
- Ultrasonic channels are
independently pulsed according to position determined by a distance
encoder system for consistent test densities and repeatable tests.
